Memory Eternal Archpriest John

On Monday, August 12th at 10:40 a.m., after the reading the Office at the Parting of the Soul from the Body, and the subsequent spontaneous, quiet singing of hymns by a few in his hospital room, Archpriest John peacefully reposed in the Lord during Let My Prayer Arise. Shortly thereafter, a panikhida was served by Father Philosoph at his bedside. For thirty-three years, Father John was the builder, sustainer, and Rector of St. Sophia Orthodox Church in Victoria, BC., Canada… which was the first, and for several decades, the only English language church in the ROCOR Canadian Diocese.

Drawn to the Truth of Holy Wisdom, and beauty of the Faith, Father John painted and mosaicked many of our church’s icons. He humbly devoted his life to the Church – a true vessel of the Holy Spirit.

Please also remember his wife, matushka Alexandra during this time in your prayers.

May the Lord grant eternal heavenly rest to Father John!
